A Visit to Polska Chata

Polska Chata is a little place in Irondequoit, a deli, small grocery store, and an upstairs restaurant. We went for lunch and had pierogies with goulasch. Yum!

Mr. Hardy’s Reptile Crew

I spent a few creative hours at University of Rochester today making monoprints with these wonderful students. They are studying reptiles and making books about various creatures. Our monoprints will be used on their book covers. I had a wonderful time.

The daily walk

Luckily my street has a lot of shade. I've been walking indoors during this particular hot spell, though.

Wandering around Village Gate

Just some stuff that caught my camera as I wandered around the stores after a fine lunch at Salena's with the Hardys. They also kindly took me to get my new handicap sign for the car.
Below are some chalk paint samples: I just liked the colors.

Cleaning out my wallet

Look at all the beautiful people I keep in my wallet. Aren't they adorable?

A visit to Swan's German deli for lunch

The neighborhood is bad, the line is long, the decor is eclectic and the place is crowded and too warm, BUT the food is delicious. I can recommend the jaeger schnitzel - 5 stars!

A walk along the Genessee River

Shizuka took me for a walk on the University of Rochester River Campus. She teaches there. I still need a minder when I walk outside. No going out alone!

Hard evidence that spring is really here

On Goodman St. near the Memorial Art Gallery.
On Sanford St., near South Avenue.

Peerless Watercolors

The Peerless packaging is 'Kodak' yellow to associate the product with photo tinting techniques.
At 11 Diamond Place, Rochester, NY, the Peerless company had a business for about 100 years. They worked closely with Kodak, originally as aniline dye paint colors to enhance photographs. When I took this picture, a pickup pulled up. The new owner is going to renovate the building into a loft apartment on top and a business space on the bottom. It's not a pretty building, but it's products made a lot of pretty photos and paintings. I like Peerless paints, and now the company is based in Stoughton, Wisconsin!

Friday in Mr. Darrow’s class

The class made pizza quesadillas. He had 2 ovens and a griddle going, along with a big fan because the room got a bit warm.  I was the designated oven monitor and quesadilla cutter-upper. The students love cooking.
