Classwork with Joanne Sharpe

So, the lefthand page was making a background by squishing wrinkled plastic wrap into wet paint, then using the same color, paint around some shapes. She calls it pulling the negative shapes out of the background. It was not so easy, but it makes a nice backgroung to write on, I think.

The righthand page was PAINTING the letters freehand, trying to find your own personal font. Also, not easy. It's like writing in slow, slow motion.
When Joanne does it, the script is all cute and stylish. Here's her website, go look. She's lots of fun, careful you don't get lost in there.

Here's what I'm doing today

I'm in an online class by Joanne Sharpe, so this is what I'm up to while I wait for the Trader Joe's gingerbread to bake.

January Potluck Taco Night

Notes to self:
Get a bigger table.
Don't have dinner parties on school nights.

Thank you, Canada!

This is the view out the front window, yesterday.
Temperature was 2 degrees F.
Joe, the landlord, pulled my car into the driveway so the plows could clean the street better. That cake of snow on the roof is frozen solid. I'm going to have to wait until it melts off, I guess.

...is Victoria Johnson. Read more about her here.

This is what I wish for all my friends and loved ones.

Socks for Miss Noble

Miss Noble is one of my colleagues who works with special education students in Mr. Jackson's class. She admired my socks one day, and I offered to make her a pair. She picked the yarn, and here they are.

Cats are weird

This is my friend's cat, Sky, and she likes to sleep in the sink. Anna thinks this is a good idea. She even covered the cat up with her blankie.
What you don't know is that there are dozens of cat beds, some of them heated, all over Anna's house.
I like cat people.
