A new food for me

I found these donut peaches at the public market today. They're sweet and white inside, and have a small pit. I think I'll eat a few, and freeze a few. This is my new favorite donut.

At the Public Market today

This energetic young lady was making smoothies with pedal power.

We didn't have one, but what a good idea!
These are called 'roly-poly' zucchinis; aren't they cute?

You can avoid lugging your 30 lbs. of produce ALL the way to your car by using this nice service.
New stuff everywhere!

Making paint charts

I never liked doing mixing charts before, but this class I'm in has turned it into a meditation on color combos. I'm so surprised that this has been relaxing and fun to do. This first one is a small set of Sennelier pan colors I've been using for a long time. I didn't realize that blues plus brown or orange gave such nice grays.

These little rascals (Radiant) are so vivid and juicy.

Now that I've painted a bazillion little squares, I have to paint something loose, wild and messy to restore balance to the universe.

Homemade hummus! Why haven't I done this before?

There are a million recipes on Pinterest and the Internet, and it takes about 5 minutes! This one is cannellini beans and an avocado, spices, lemon juice, tahini and garlic. I'm never buying hummus again.

Crash bang boom

So, last night about 12:40 am, I heard a big crashing noise. My upstairs neighbor and I park on the street, which was otherwise empty. A drunk driver had crashed into her car, nearly removing the rear wheel, and pushing her car into mine.

Sad Suzuki and UnHappy Honda.

See all the pretty sparkly glass? That's my rear window.

Bye-bye, little Honda.
I'm feeling thankful that nobody was hurt, it wasn't raining, and that we both have good insurance. And so does Drunk Driver. He had a case of beer and a bong in his car, and was arrested. My neighbor's car is totaled, and I'm waiting to see what the damages are on mine. Wish me luck!

Back to the sketch journal

I'm taking an online course about journal art, art journaling, sketchbook, whatever you call the place your art supplies like to mess about.

Fourth of July brunch

So here's Anna trying to get the bananas to flambe'.
Maybe we should get out the fire extinguisher. We don't have one. What?
Carefully watching the blazing pan.
We had tater tots, Bananas Foster, buttermilk pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream, baked cheesy egg casserole, and bacon.
Shizu made the pancakes at the table.

Angel and Anna.
Jon digs in.
We had a great time!
