The BIG shawl is almost finished

I started this project 3 years ago. Now, all that's left is the third corner to be hem stitched. Click here for more info and the way too long story.
The pattern is called Thistle, by Pinnegurl: Click here to see other people's versions of this monster project.

Upcycling

I had all these origami paper fortunes from a game I made several years ago. I don't even really remember what game it was, but if you won the turn you got a fortune. The paper is really pretty. It was a gift from Shizuka.
So, now I have chopped it up and up-cycled it into decoupaged containers for a popsicle stick game that teaches letter sounds, three letter words, two letter words, any words you pick for the kids who are playing. The game is called Kaboom! You can Google it. I don't know why, but the little children love that stupid game. I love it, because it gives them repetitious practice which would otherwise be very boring.
I found myself rummaging through the recycling bag mumbling, "What else can I decoupage..." over and over. It's a sickness. (I only found one more bean can in there. Guess what's for dinner.)
The truly boring part is gluing all the words onto the sticks. I only have about 200 more to glue. Then I paint the opposite end, so I can separate the categories easily. These are the short O words. Three dozen of them.
Onward to short U, and long A, and consonant digraphs!
